Why is Your Paint Peeling?

SURFACE PREPARATION -

A clean surface works best when starting a paint project. This will help prevent your paint from peeling in the future. A clean surface ensures better paint adhesion, an even shade or color, and durability. To clean the surface that is going to be painting we suggest using warm water and a sponge. Don't forget to prime those walls as well!

INCORRECT TEMPERATURES -

Incorrect temperature while the paint is drying can cause bubbles or cracks! Temperature can also increase or decrease the drying time dependent on the specific type of paint that is being used. Depending on the surface that is being painted, the finish of the paint can be affected. If it is too humid, the paint can peel and cause bubbles on the surface. We recommend painting your home when temperatures are not too high and humidity is low.

TOO MANY COATS OF PAINT -

If the wall you are painting has too many coats on it from previous paint jobs, this can cause problems for your project! Too many coats will cause peeling from the weight of the coats.

EXPIRED PAINT -

Interior Paint has a typical shelf life of two years! If paint is exposed to freezing temperatures or extremely hot temperatures, this can affect the performance ability of the product. We suggest storing paint in a cool, dry area.

INCORRECT APPLICATION METHODS -

When preparing for your paint job ensure that application methods are done correctly. Using too much paint thinner or applying coats too thin can cause adhesion problems for the paint. On the other hand, applying too thick of coats can cause longer drying times and uneven drying for your coats of paint.
